BARBARA & ROBERT CARDOOS
with Café Pignoli

The nominator sent in this nomination and it’s heartwarming. As he stated, “This nomination is about humanity, selflessness and caring. Last year during a major holiday, my nominee closed their restaurant on the busiest day of the year to help feed those in need of a home-cooked meal. In my nominee’s words—we have no limitations. If 1,000 people come, they’ll all be fed.
Well, over 1,000 families showed up. Then they added an additional element to making dinner available to the community—those who could not get to the location simply needed to call and a fresh meal would be delivered to their home! Unbelievable.

My nominees’ generosity and graciousness know no bounds.”
As another grateful recipient said via email, “I read about the dinner but wasn’t sure I would go, and one of my sons was embarrassed about it. We finally worked up enough nerve to go and were made to feel so welcome….I had no idea how I was going to feed my sons that day and then YOU
all put on a free dinner!

What a blessing you are. Thank you

Barbara Cardoos, owner of Café Pignoli’s at Cape Harbour, came up with one of the greatest ideas in the Cape. Good old fashioned Girls Nights Out!

Every Wednesday night Barbara will be hosting this event for women to sit back and relax at her waterfront Café and enjoy each other’s company. This week about 30 women came together to get to know each other, discuss ideas for future girls nights, who has a bucket list and what is on it, how long we have gone without sleep and would we go topless on topless beach? Barbara’s topics made for great entertainment over Tapas and Wine, as did quite a few of our own.

In a group that size of course there will be some acquaintances, which hopefully turn into friends, such as Mardi Bras and Boxers organizer, Toni Rae Hurly. Toni shared with us a

great event that is coming up soon. Shopping! And better then shopping, shopping for charity! CapeCoral.com will be bringing you all the details to that in the very near future.
You are also bound to make some new connections, such as I did with Carolyn Noble and

Sandy Battrick. I am very glad I sat my suitcase purse down at their table and joined those ladies. They were lots of fun to talk to and I sincerely hope there is a Karaoke night in our very near future. Speaking of Karaoke, some of the ladies just couldn’t wait for a microphone and monitor. Pauline, Jamie, Toni, Vikki, Amy, Heike, Joan and Fran got a little wild with YMCA, and I believe Kumbaya even made its way into the evening. My long

time friend, Christine Rawlings, made her way after a long day of work to sip wine and share a cheese plate, and new friend Denise Perchall found a way to

make it happen once again. We had a great time and you can see all the photos from the first, of what I hope are many, Wednesday night “Girls Nights” on this week’s “Out&About” photo gallery.

This week’s theme was “What Women Want” and I think we got it all figured out. We want it all! But we will settle for once a week, out with the girls. Next week: Women Who Wine. Sounds fun!
